If you happen to go back to the Forlorn Ruins (actually a bit before that where you are being chased) there will be a rock blocking your way, there's a lever over it but you cannot interact with it. so wait, that grey area down there actually isnt visitable? You're probably standing in front of the wrong door.

Seriously, when you get to the map stone, use it to reveal all missing skill points, map places and upgrades, go back and get them, DO NOT continue unless you don't care about not getting 100% completion. That was all I needed to do to get 100%.

I managed to find the door after getting a little help from Reddit, apparently the walkthrough I was looking at was in a completely different area(albeit same progress) they were smashing through a pillar just to the west of the Spirit Tree. it's one of three missable location (1 - Ginza Tree \ 2 - Forlorn ruins \ 3 - mountain haru). I could've fast travelled back to the forlorn ruins but walked back instead (had to destroy a big rock with charge-blast on the way).

And the funny thing is, I can't remember how I even got back in the Forlorn Ruins if the boulder is in the way. I'm not sure what you're trying to say with part 1. Thanks Danarok. I'm surprised the designers didn't know that!
